3 Tasty Make-Ahead Campfire Meals For The Whole Family
You don't have to stick to hot dogs and beef jerky when you're out camping, especially when you're with family. Family camping is a great time to share awesome stories and good food with people you care about. Sure, you can enjoy toasted marshmallows or hot chocolate while surrounding the campfire, but you can also opt to prepare these make-ahead campfire meals at home for convenience.

Amazing Fried Pizza
What you need:
1 package pizza dough
2 cups tomato sauce
2 cups grated mozzarella cheese
1 cup pesto
Parmesan cheese, for sprinkling
fresh basil, for sprinkling
red pepper flakes
canola oil for frying
Prepare the pizza dough according to package directions then divide into 6 equal portions. Roll each piece into a ball and flatten into the shape of a pizza (about 1/2-inch thick and 6 to 8 inches in diameter). Heat about 1 inch deep from the canola oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat and then one by one, fry pizza dough until they are light golden brown in color, about 30 seconds to 1 minute per side. Let cool then spread each dough with tomato sauce and sprinkle with mozzarella (add more if desired). Cook on a pre-heated oven (450F) until the cheese is melted, about 5 minutes. Top with pesto, parmesan and fresh basil. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes.
Ham and Hash Foil Packs
What you need:
1 package shredded fries, frozen
1 1/2 cups chopped smoked ham
1 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
kosher salt and ground black pepper to taste
In a large bowl, stir fries together grated, smoked ham and olive oil. Season with kosher salt and black pepper. Prepare 6 sheets of heavy-duty aluminum foil (at least 12 inches long) and brush each lightly with olive oil. Divide hash brown mix between the foil. Fold all sides of each to create a package. Bake in a pre-package heated oven (400F) until heated through and cheese is melted, about 20 to 25 minutes. Let cool for a few minutes before eating or packing for camp. Garnish with fresh chives when ready to eat in the camp.
